Faylon Fuzz
Categories : Fuzz
Brand : Jimmy Behan Fx
The FM72 is a clone of the rare Faylon F72 Fuzz Machien from the early 70s.
Faylon were a Belgian company perhaps best known for their amps. As well as the standard Attack (volume) and Fuzz controls, the FM72 has a Tone control which rolls off bass at the input, allowing for a wider range of fuzz and distortion textures. The original circuit used unnecessarily large 10uf electrolytic caps at the input and output and these have been replaced with superior sounding MKT axial poly caps.
Built on large pitch veroboard, it uses three BC109C silicon transistors, as in the original. It also uses metal film resistors, Vishay and tropical fish capacitors, BC and Panasonic electros, Switchcraft jacks, shielded cable, true-bypass switching, a clear/blue LED and is finished in a lightly textured, sky blue powdercoat. It’s a negative ground circuit and can be powered by a regular Boss-style 9v supply or a 9v battery.
Signed and numbered 1 to 10.
